Recently, I’ve been watching those classic Cranshaw Watercolour Class videos. He uses a lovely metal box and no one I’ve found sells a good one here in the states. I wanted a really limited palette for plein air painting. Mr. Cranshaw holds the paper & paints in his lap while he paints. I have a lovely easel but sometimes you want to pack really light!
I’ve ordered this new little box from the Ken Bromley Art Supply Site. Additionally, I’ll have to do something about EIGHT half pans that I choose to be in this new Bijou Box. It will come with:
- Winsor Green
- Yellow Ochre
- Burnt Sienna
- French Ultramarine
- Winsor Lemon
- Scarlet Lake
- Permanent Rose
- Ivory Black
I think I’ll change that up and I have ordered:
- Cobalt Light Turquoise
- Winsor Red
- Transparent Yellow
- Winsor Violet
- Permanent Carmine
I am not certain yet which 8 colors will go into the bijou box, but I’ll update you with a review of the whole outfit once it gets here and I have a chance to use it.
Mr. Cranshaw also recommends only 2 brushes:
- No. 6 sable
- No. 10 sable
I think I might make the investment and get the top of the line Winsor & Newton Series 7 Kolinsky Sable Pointed Round No. 9 or 10. I have some smaller W & N No. 4 or 5s in my collection, already. It is time to be serious!
